Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev is one of the most important political figures of the 20th century. It was his courage that overcame the greatest threat to humanity at the time: the nuclear arms race and a possible nuclear war in Europe. Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev was born on 2nd March 1931 in Privolnoye, Russia. In 1990 he took on the office of President of the Soviet Union. In December 1991 he announced his resignation and founded the 'International Foundation for Socio-Economic and Political Studies', the Gorbachev Foundation, in Moscow. In 1990 he received the Nobel Peace Prize.
Franz Alt studied political science, history, theology and philosophy. He completed his PhD in 1967 with a dissertation on Konrad Adenauer. He was an editor, reporter and presenter for 35 years (Report Baden-Baden, 'Zeitsprung' and 'Querdenker') on the TV channel Erste Deutsche Fernsehen. His books on politics, ecological and spiritual themes have been translated into 16 languages and reached over three million copies.
Michail Gorbatschow war von März 1985 bis August 1991 Generalsekretär des Zentralkomitees der Kommunistischen Partei der Sowjetunion (KPdSU) und von März 1990 bis Dezember 1991 Staatspräsident der Sowjetunion. Durch seine Politik der Glasnost (Offenheit) und der Perestroika (Umbau) leitete er das Ende des Kalten Krieges ein. Er erhielt 1990 den Friedensnobelpreis.
Franz Alt ist Journalist und Bestsellerautor. 35 Jahre lang war er Redakteur, Reporter und Moderator (Report Baden-Baden, "Zeitsprung" und "Querdenker") beim Ersten Deutschen Fernsehen. In "Ethik ist wichtiger als Religion" war er Gesprächspartner des Dalai Lama.
