This book was written in Liverpool, Glasgow, and Oxford based on material used in teaching. And I kept most of the lectures, organized from my point of view. Anyone who writes about Shakespeare owes a lot to his predecessor. I admit it too. However, most of my thoughts on Shakespeare\'s criticism came from years ago. Many of the notes will be of interest only to scholars. Scholars want to be able to discover something new.
